DRMS Update
Ginny Brannon, Division Director, Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety provided the committees an update regarding Department of Natural Resources and Division activities. The Department’s Executive Director Dan Gibbs, a firefighter, has been assisting in the efforts to fight forest fires throughout the state.

  • Russ Means reported he met with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Radiation Control Division who are developing regulations covering Technological Enhanced Radioactive Materials (TENORM).
  • The Division responded to a question about the status of its employees working at home or office due to the COVID virus.

The Committees discussed efforts by the Water Quality Control Division’s to update Regulation 31.  Please visit the Division’s 10-year Roadmap webpage, Regulation 31 for information regarding topics discussed at today’s meeting including temporary modifications and site specific conditions.

Discussion occurred about the Department of Public Health and Environment’s stakeholder process to further define a “dredge and fill” permitting program they may or not believe is necessary depending on whether the stay issued by the federal district court in Denver remains in place leaving Colorado the only state subject to the 2008 WOTUS rule. Members can track the Department’s stakeholder process here.

Dianna Orf provided a summary of the election season and upcoming legislation.
