Colorado Mining Association Education Foundation Update

Enrollment now open for CMAEF’s 2019 All About Mining Summer Course for K-12 Teachers

As we look forward to the new year, we at the Colorado Mining Association Education Foundation are excited about the upcoming 2019 teachers’ course and all of the new teachers it brings into our traveling classroom. This year’s course dates will be June 13-21. If you know a teacher looking for a great summer experience with the added bonus of six continuing education credits from the Colorado School of Mines, please let them know about us.

Taking this course is quite simple; all you need to do is register at www.allaboutmining.org, view the lectures at your own pace, write the insights and take the quizzes attached to each of the lectures, then submit three lesson plans on the lectures of your choice. There are four months to finish the work for this year’s course, which is due on or before May 31, 2019. That’s what it takes to qualify for the three-day CSM lecture review/experiments and local field trips, and the following five-day field trip to Colorado mines and mill sites. There is no summer course available like this one—it is truly a unique adventure!

Another thing that has been quite helpful to us has been the generous access of teacher information we received in the fall of 2018. The American Coal Foundation shared with us their library of lesson plans, activities and lectures for K-12 teachers, which you can find on our website at www.allaboutmining.org, under the General Resources tab.

We always appreciate your support and look forward to the next time we can meet and discuss the industry’s education goals. Do visit our website and see what we are all about.
