The grass is growing and the lawn mowers are running and everyone is hoping we return to normal this summer.
I have been catching up with some of our past student teachers and confirming what we have all heard in the media—it has been a tough year for them. Many have had to be extra crafty to get students to pay attention, others have had to start from scratch in order to explain the lessons on the screen and not in person. Teaching remotely has meant many more hours in their day, as more individual video sessions were needed. My heart goes out to all of them as they had to come up with a plan that was instantly successful in getting their students through the school year.
Although the All About Mining course for June remains in doubt due to Covid19-related concerns, Mining for a STEAM education is up and running for our summer teacher/students, along with all of our All About Mining lecture series. Both of these courses are always available for free to anyone who would like to view them at allaboutmining.org. If you know a teacher looking for great STEAM content online, or continuing education credits, please send them our way.
Allaboutmining.org will have a new look coming soon. We are quite excited with our new website as we will be able to showcase many more videos and ideas than in our current configuration. I will keep you posted as to our launch. Along with all of this, we have made it easier than ever to support us; our new secure donation portal accepts credit cards and is located here.
Remember you can also support us by using Amazon.smile.com choosing Colorado Mining Association Education Foundation as your charity. Amazon donates a small portion of your purchases directly to CMAEF, which we use to bring All About Mining / Mining for a STEAM Education to K-12 educators.
