CMA President Attends U.S. Chamber Institute for Organizational Management

CMA President Stan Dempsey attended his second year of the 4-year Institute for Organization Management this past week. The Institute is an entity created by the U.S. Chamber to help develop Chamber and Association executives’ professional development. This year he attended the sessions on the campus of University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. The Institute curriculum this year included sessions covering leadership training, marketing and events support and developing government affairs programming.

The Institute event provides a unique opportunity to meet and learn from Chamber and Association executives from the smallest of chambers of commerce to large organizations such as large statewide associations such as statewide chambers of commerce and diverse entities for using on insurance or safety.

Perhaps the most relevant information presented during the last two years has been topics covering association governance, financial and accounting practices legal topics. One area of interest for further study is the increasing trend by Associations structured like CMA to create foundations to support the work of the Association. CMA was pleased to briefly describe the work of CMA’s Education Foundation, an entity created in 1968.
