We are thrilled to introduce you to our new President & CEO, Adam Eckman!
Adam brings significant experience in the mining industry, having advocated for its legal, regulatory, and legislative interests as Associate General Counsel for the National Mining Association.
Prior to his time with NMA, he worked on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. for several members of the Colorado Congressional delegation and as counsel to the U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources, Subcommittee on Water and Power. Adam comes to CMA from the U.S. Department of the Interior where he was an attorney in the Office of the Solicitor. In each of these roles he worked with a wide range of natural resources, energy, environmental and regulatory policy issues impacting the mining industry.
“I’m honored and excited to be back working on behalf of the mining industry in my home state of Colorado. Mining is the front end of the supply chain for every major industry in our country and plays a vital role in supporting Colorado’s economy. From affordable energy to national defense, emerging technology and clean energy development and storage, so many facets of Colorado’s economy and future goals depend on a robust mining industry. I have spent most of my career working with and on behalf of the industry and I’m eager to lead CMA in the next chapter of its 148-year history,” said Eckman.
“We’re excited for the future of CMA under Adam’s leadership,” said Lorna Shaw, Board Chair and Government Relations Director for Newmont. “His Colorado roots, deep policy experience, and engaging approach will make him an enthusiastic and effective advocate for Colorado’s mining industry.”
Adam’s first day with CMA will be on December 11, 2023!
Originally from Fort Collins, Adam graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a bachelor’s degree in political science and history before attending the University of Colorado Law School. He lives in Littleton, CO with his wife and two children.
