Education Foundation Update

Spring has sprung and we are really looking forward to the changes it brings, one of which I get to tell you about today. It is my great pleasure to announce that Ms. Judy Colgan has recently joined the Colorado Mining Association Education Association as our Executive Director (part-time). Judy is well connected to the local and national mining communities; she currently serves as Executive Director of the Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute and Friends of Coal West. She will retain her position with those organizations while adding CMAEF into the mix. We are excited to have her share her vision and expertise with us in our educational endeavors. Welcome Judy!

As for this summer’s activities, the situation concerning our ability to offer the in-person All About Mining course in June remains in doubt due to COVID-19 related concerns at our destination sites and in general. Nevertheless, the lectures for both the All About Mining and the new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Education courses are always available for free to anyone who would like to view them at allaboutmining.org. If you know of a teacher looking for continuing education credits, please send them our way.

We’ve also made it easier than ever to support us; our new secure donation portal accepts credit cards and is located here.

Remember you can also support us by using Amazon.smile.com and choosing Colorado Mining Association Education Foundation as your charity. Amazon donates a small portion of your purchases directly to CMAEF, which we use to bring All About Mining / Mining for a STEAM Education to K-12 educators.

If you would like to know more about us, or get involved in our exciting educational mission, please contact me by email.
